Associate Director, Field Operations and Sales Training

The Associate Director, Field Operations and Training is responsible for leadership of sales training, management development, planning national and regional sales meetings and other special projects.  Partners with senior commercial and divisional sales leadership and support teams to deepen sales team knowledge and drive results.  This position is responsible for design, development and implementation of initial and advanced sales training and development programs utilizing a blended learning strategy that supports the strategic goals of the sales, marketing and HR departments.

This position is also responsible for designing and implementing pilot projects to support the launch and ongoing commercialization of valbenazine in tardive dyskinesia (TD).  Also may represent the head of sales as needed in various meetings and forums.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

Sales Capabilities Development & Training:  Responsible for establishing the strategic direction of the sales training group, and for overseeing the design, development and implementation of learning and leadership initiatives that support the Sales and Marketing organization.

Drive a high performance sales culture through the assessment and development of sales capabilities globally, for current and future needs.  Design, develop and implement disease state learning curriculum.

Ensure all training content complies with Neurocrine Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and Medical requirements.

Responsible for oversight of all training programs involving new hire training, recurrent training, advanced training, as well as additional developmental programs for (but not limited to) Field Sales Representatives, Area Sales Managers.

Responsible for establishing, overseeing and managing Management/Leadership Development curriculum and programs.

Responsible for working closely and collaboratively with Commercial leadership in the development and execution of brand initiatives and all training and development programs to support each promoted or development product.

Responsible for working closely with Human Resources and senior Sales Management on the development and execution of leadership and management development for appropriate positions within the commercial organization.

Directs activities to support the professional development of training staff.

Ensures training programs reflect the highest standards of conduct and compliance for the pharmaceutical industry.

Continuously explores alternative methods of delivering training and new approaches, practices and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training (including distance-learning, e-learns, learning portals).

Manages and monitors detailed meetings and training budgets, control documents and financial data reports/analysis.

Field Operations Management:  Define, initiate and implement field pilot projects to support the launch of valbenazine.

Plan, organize and implement national and regional sales meetings

Lead the planning process for the annual/bi-annual field sales Plan of Action

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BS/BA required, major in business or technical field preferred. MBA or other advanced degree a plus.

10+ years progressive pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech or healthcare sales and marketing experience with at least 5 in sales training and development; field sales management experience a must

Experience with capturing and sharing best practices to develop a high performing field sales organization.
