Executive Director, Strategic Marketing
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this individual will direct early commercial planning and market research for Neurocrine’s therapeutic candidates in phase III and earlier stage clinical development. This position is responsible for developing market opportunity assessments for current and potential pipeline programs including disease area understanding, competitive landscapes, unmet medical need, reimbursement environment and overall commercial attractiveness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
Develops comprehensive commercial development plans for investigational drugs in clinical development; Plans and conducts market research to maximize the value of product candidates and research programs in existing and new therapeutic areas; Defines Target Product Profiles (TPPs) for cross-functional R&D teams developing novel therapeutic candidates; Working in conjunction with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, identify and gain insights from scientific thought leaders and conduct advisory boards as needed to inform clinical and early commercial development plans; Support Business Development licensing activities, including commercial due diligence, as needed; Lead the development of the revenue forecasts and rNPV models for clinical compounds in collaboration with key business partners (Finance, Clinical Development, etc.); Partner with cross-functional colleagues to help guide product life cycle decision-making and potential partnering discussions; Provide customer insights and recommendations to help inform clinical development including formulations, dosing, desired endpoints, data analysis plans and other elements impacting labeling and commercial viability; Monitors competitive therapies of relevance to Neurocrine to allow development teams to react to new information by strengthening underlying product candidate profiles; Conducts assessments of ex-US potential, develops commercial launch plans and assists with partnership discussions in support of Business Development colleagues; Represents the commercial organization on cross-functional product development teams.
Thorough knowledge of strategic marketing and in-line brand management principals appropriate to pharmaceutical or biologic therapeutics; Exceptional command of data analytics, forecasting and market research techniques with a proven ability to interpret market insights to help guide strategic direction; Outstanding communication and presentation skills including strong written and oral communication abilities; Demonstrated cross-functional leadership and ability to partner with colleagues across the business and scientific areas of the organization; Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills; Knowledge of biotechnology or pharmaceutical market, customer base, and market trends across multiple geographic regions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree is required, with a science concentration preferred; MBA or advanced degree a plus, with education in marketing or other business disciplines highly desirable. A minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing and related disciplines in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries; specialty product launch experience strongly preferred (CNS and/or psychiatry therapeutic areas experience a plus).
