Sr. Human Resources / Benefits Representative

SUMMARY

Provide general Human Resources support in benefits design and administration, new hire orientation, immigration, employee relations, and special projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

Maintain knowledge of and apply legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance, especially for benefits.

Administer, and communicate benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.  Analyze overall benefit competitiveness, to market and/or adjusts plans to fit company culture and needs.

Interacts with and advises employees on a range of individual benefits, such as insurance, retirement, COBRA, IRS Section 125, FMLA, and other associated benefits as available. Resolve or assists with employee benefit questions and problems as appropriate.

Review and process individual benefits enrollment and related documentation for completeness, accuracy and compliance.

Utilizes HRIS ADP system to process all transactions through Benefit Administration including personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.  Ensures accuracy of on-line deductions for all benefits.  Generates appropriate notification of changes to employees and payroll.

Conducts benefit new employee orientation and open enrollment meetings.  Actively manages the open enrollment program for all employees.

Resolve or assists with employee benefit questions and problems as appropriate.

Handle immigration issues for employees

Investigate accidents and prepares workers’ compensation reports for insurance carrier.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and work well within a team environment. Knowledgeable with multi-state and federal labor regulations and policies.  Must have demonstrated ability to deal effectively and confidentially with employees at all levels and with a diverse workforce. Ability to effectively build strong working relationship with payroll, accounting and vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

BA in Business Administration or a related field with minimum of 7 years Human Resources- benefits administration experience, or high school diploma or equivalent, with 10 years experience in human resources.  Experience with HRIS and computer spreadsheet software (Excel and or Access, Microsoft Word and Power Point) required. Experience preferably in biopharmaceutical or hi-tech manufacturing regulated environment.
