Medical Science Liaison, Market Access Lead

SUMMARY:

This role leads Neurocrine’s medical market access strategy and medical engagement of Payers. This includes: Medical coverage for major national and regional payer accounts, payer/HEOR conferences, coordination of MSL activity with Market Access, HEOR, NAE, and MSL team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Determine and prioritize accounts and conferences by aligning with internal Market Access/NAE and MSL teams;
  • to Develop Managed Care/HEOR plan of actions for MSL team, while working with internal stakeholders;
  • Coordinate medical coverage across Managed Care and HEOR Conferences, while working with internal stakeholders and MSLs;
  • Develop science-based relationships and provide direct medical support for critical national payer accounts and HEOR/MC KOLs;
  • Work with MSL team to coordinate medical coverage across payer accounts and HEOR KOLs;
  • Play a key role in the development of MSL Managed Care training;
  • Play a key role in the development of MSL Managed Care scientific platform and resources;
  • Act as a liaison and coordinate project and research activities related to Managed Markets and/or HEOR in partnership with the Medical Affairs HEOR lead; and
  • Manage Travel & Expense, entry of activities into MSL system of record, team reports and adherence to relevant compliance SOPs, while maintaining operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be motivated, self-disciplined and comfortable working in both team and individual contributor roles;

Must be an excellent communicator and skilled diplomat in all venues, including the ability to effectively combine science knowledge and communication skills;

Proficient at execution of scientific leader communication plans;

Demonstrated ability to develop strong business relationships with healthcare professionals, key decision makers, and other external and internal collaborators is required;

Proven ability to meet individual goals, enhance therapeutic knowledge and continuously improve knowledge, skills and abilities related to job expectations;

Solid understanding of drug development and life-cycle management of a product is preferred;

Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements and regulatory trends that directly and indirectly impact field medical; and

Role can be based at corporate office (San Diego) or in the field. If in field, role requires frequent travel to corporate office as needed. Must be able to travel in the field at least 50% of the time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

MD, PhD or PharmD is required; and

Minimum of four years previous work experience in an equivalent field-based MSL position is required, with a minimum of two in the CNS therapeutic area. 3 years’ experience working with managed care is highly preferred.

Role can be based at corporate office (San Diego) or in the field. If in field, role requires frequent travel to corporate office as needed. Must be able to travel in the field at least 50% of the time.
