Student Intern, Research Instrumentation
Under supervision, the part-time student intern (29 hrs per week) will create custom software tools to be used in a laboratory setting by our research chemists and biologists. You will author scripting tools to analyze research biology data, and you will also configure and create data visualizations using industry standard data visualization software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
- Effectively communicate within an interdisciplinary team to acquire specifications for software and visualization needs.
- Create software tools to meet unmet laboratory needs.
- Effectively configure data visualization templates for various workflows.
Experience with SQL and familiarity with C# or VB.NET. Comprehension of basic statistics, algebra, and the scientific method is required. The ideal applicant will have advanced computer skills, advanced troubleshooting, and advanced problem solving skills. The position will also require communication and coordination on a diverse multidisciplinary team.
At least two years of computer science curriculum and one lab science course completed is desired. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated strong oral and written communication ability is a must.
