This position is for an experienced hands-on Scientist position within the In Vivo Research Group at Neurocrine Biosciences. Primary tasks performed on a daily basis in mice and rats will include compound formulation and dosing using various routes of administration, behavioral testing (motor, cognitive, etc), data handling, and tissue collection. Working experience with stereotaxic surgical techniques, microdialysis and/or EEG preferred. The candidate will be directly involved in assay development for in vivo examination of novel drug targets and screening of potential therapeutic compounds, study design, execution of procedures and data analysis in a team setting. Strong organizational and multitasking skills required. Will review, comprehend and comply with all SOP’s, IACUC procedures, and safety and quality assurance standards at all times.
Master’s or a Bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences preferably related to behavioral neuroscience, pharmacology or biopsychology with extensive hands-on knowledge of behavioral testing in a variety of assays. Experienced in the handling and dosing of rodents in a laboratory setting a must. Additional stereotaxic surgery, microdialysis and/or EEG experience strongly preferred. Leadership, organizational, multi-tasking, trouble shooting and deductive reasoning skills required, along with willingness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Occasional weekend work required. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
